I don’t think I’ve ever really discussed my love for Butter London on this site, but if you’ve been reading eplikesthis.com very long, you know that I do have an extreme (EXTREME) fondness for their polishes. I discovered Butter in November 2008 in Dulles International Airport. My Grandmother was dying, I was emotionally vulnerable and the shop/quickie nail spa was across from my gate. And luckily for me, I had time to kill before my flight.
Immediately, it was love. How could I resist the simmering shimmer of Big Smoke? The insane saturation of Bezzie Mate? The pitch-darkness of Union Jack Black?
I could not.
Before I knew it, I was walking out of the store with my first three polishes. Less than a month later, I found myself at Dulles again at my Grandmother’s passing. Again, being emotionally vulnerable, I acquired three more of their polishes.
Butter is sort of the buttoned-up wild child of the polish world with an array of juicy and unexpected colors. While their collection offers beautiful shimmers and the occasional glitter polish, Butter is heavy with rich cremes. The polishes apply with the greatest of ease and dry fast enough that one could whip out an emergency mani in 20 minutes. Additionally, Butter is a 3-Free polish (meaning they contain no Formaldehyde, no Toluene, and no DBP) making them pregnancy safe and ensuring that cancerous chemicals aren’t absorbed through your nail beds. Their customer service is incredible, too, though I’ve never ever ever had a legitimate problem.
Today, I received their new Jelly Collection in the mail. I could not have imagined how fun and funky these three gems are.
Twee - A beautifully berry magenta with a sweet silvery shimmer. I literally let out a little SQUEE at the three-coat mark. It’s already made it to my go-to list for when I can’t decide what color to wear.
Chuffed - An apricot orange hue that looks good enough to eat. It is chock-full of unexpected silver glitter. This color is incredibly fun and immediately reminded me of something I would have picked out as a child. I can see myself sweeping this on my 4-year-old niece’s toes in the summer before heading off to the beach.
Stroppy - Looks exactly like grape jelly and the formula is filled with rose and indigo glitter. It doesn’t quite pack the same punch as Twee and Chuffed, but is equallly lovely and lively.
All that being said, the drying time for the Jelly Collection is a bit longer than most Butter polishes.
I urge you all to get your hands on a Butter polish or two (or seven). They are pretty pricey for nail polish but are completely worth it and they will change your world if you let them. To place an order or look over their colors, visit www.butterlondon.com.
P.S. I’d be more than happy to recommend some colors to you.
